About WeDevelop

We build the digital side of your business.

WeDevelop is a South African studio, founder-led by Lance Connolly. We build websites, search and AI visibility, automation, AI agents, custom business systems and the ongoing support that keeps them working — for small and growing businesses that need the result to be practical rather than impressive.

If you would rather see the work before reading about us, every project we publish is labelled by its real status and reports no result we have not measured.

Who is accountable

One person is responsible for your project, and you always know who.

WeDevelop is led by Lance Connolly, who runs client discovery, strategy, creative direction, project planning, communication and quality assurance. That is one point of contact from the first conversation to the final handover, and one person answerable for the outcome.

Specialist developers, designers, automation professionals and contractors support individual projects where a project genuinely needs them. That does not move the accountability. WeDevelop remains the client partner, and the person you spoke to in the first meeting is the person you speak to in the last one.

Lance’s job is to understand the commercial problem, define the improvement that is actually worth making, coordinate the capability required to build it, and make sure it is delivered responsibly.

That means the person scoping the work is the person who has to live with the scope. It is the main reason WeDevelop recommends the level of project that matches the problem rather than the largest one it could sell.

Based in South Africa. We work remotely with businesses nationwide, and take selected international projects by agreement.

Why WeDevelop exists

Most businesses do not have a website problem. They have a customer-journey problem.

The website may look outdated, and that is usually the part a business owner notices first. The more expensive issue is normally what happens around it.

Customers cannot find the answer

The offer is hard to understand, and a visitor cannot tell what to do next.

Enquiries arrive in five places

Forms, email, calls, social and WhatsApp, with no single process behind them.

Follow-ups depend on memory

Someone is expected to remember which customer still needs a reply or a quote.

The same work is redone by hand

Information is copied between systems and messages are rewritten from scratch.

Modern design, development, automation and AI tools are more accessible than they have ever been. The difficulty is no longer finding technology. It is knowing which parts are useful for a specific business, how they should connect, and who will take responsibility for delivering the result. WeDevelop exists to make that practical.

What we build

Six things, and the connections between them.

These are the six areas WeDevelop takes responsibility for. Most projects start in one of them and end up touching two or three, because a website, the enquiries it produces and the work that follows are one journey rather than three jobs.

AI Agents

Sales, support and operational agents built around real business processes.

How projects are run

Six stages, and what you have in your hands at each one.

Every project follows the same structured process, so the problem, the scope, the price, the approvals, the ownership and the next step stay clear from the first conversation to the handover.

  1. Understand

We learn how the business works, how customers currently interact with it, and where the problems and opportunities actually sit. You get an accurate description of the problem, including when it is not the one you expected.

  2. Recommend

We identify the improvements worth making and define scope, price, timeline and expected outcome. You get a written scope before any work starts, and a recommendation you can decline.

  3. Design

We plan the customer journey, the visual direction, the workflow or the system before production begins. You approve the direction while changing it is still cheap.

  4. Build

We coordinate the design, development, content, automation and integrations the approved solution needs. You get progress you can look at rather than status you have to trust.

  5. Test

We test the complete journey across devices, forms, workflows and connected systems. You get the result checked on a phone before it is checked off.

  6. Launch and support

We launch the approved solution, confirm ownership and access, and provide the agreed post-launch support. You get a documented handover, not a login emailed at midnight.

When a project needs a specialist — a developer for a specific stack, a designer for a specific discipline, an automation engineer, a photographer — we bring one in and manage them. You are not handed a stranger and a new brief. The scope, the schedule, the quality check and the invoice stay with WeDevelop.

Ownership and honesty

What you own, what we hand over, and what we will not promise.

Two of these lists are the reason clients stay. The third is the reason some conversations end early, and we would rather they ended here than after an invoice.

What you own

  • Your domain and your business accounts, which should stay registered in your name
  • Client-specific work in the approved scope, transferred or licensed to you after full payment
  • Your content, your data and your customer information
  • Your hosting, analytics, search and messaging accounts, in your control

What handover includes

  • Documented access to every account and system involved
  • A written record of what was built and how it is configured
  • The agreed post-launch support period
  • A clear answer on what is reusable WeDevelop tooling and what is yours

What we will not promise

  • Guaranteed leads, sales, rankings or revenue — no responsible provider can
  • Results we have not measured, on this site or in a proposal
  • A price before we understand the problem
  • Technology a business does not need, because it is currently fashionable

Ownership is documented for every project and is subject to third-party licences and reusable WeDevelop components, which we identify rather than quietly retain. Where a result depends on your offer, your pricing, your market or how fast you answer an enquiry, we will say so instead of taking credit for it.

How WeDevelop operates

Six rules we hold ourselves to.

Be useful before being impressive

Every recommendation has to serve a real business purpose. Nothing is built because it would look good in a portfolio.

Do not promise what we cannot control

We can improve the website, the journey, the calls to action and the process behind them. We do not guarantee leads, sales, rankings or revenue.

Make complexity feel simple

A client should understand what is being built, why it matters and what happens next, without needing the vocabulary.

Protect ownership

Clients should understand and control the domains, accounts, data and systems they have paid for.

Document the work

Important decisions, configurations and handovers should not exist only inside somebody’s memory.

Say when it is not us

If the honest answer is a smaller project, a different provider or no project at all, that is the answer you get.

Working with a South African studio

Same timezone, same market, one named person.

Plenty of competent development happens offshore, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What an anonymous offshore provider usually cannot give a South African business is a person in your working hours who understands the market the website is selling into.

In practice that means enquiries reach you on WhatsApp, because that is where South African customers actually talk; pricing, payment and legal expectations match local practice, including POPIA obligations around customer data; and when something breaks at four on a Friday afternoon there is one named person to call, in the same timezone, who already knows how your system is built.

It also means a contactable business. Our number, our email and the name of the person responsible are on every page of this site, and on the work we publish.

Tell us what you are trying to improve.

Website, search visibility, automation, an agent or something more custom — describe what you are trying to achieve and we will recommend the right next step, including when that step is smaller than you expected.
