Who we are
WeDevelop is a trading name operated by Lance Connolly in South Africa. WeDevelop helps small and growing businesses improve their websites, customer journeys, and everyday operations. You can contact us at lance@wedevelop.co.za.
What information we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to share it with us, for example when you:
- Contact us on WhatsApp or by email — typically your name, contact details, business name, website address, and the details of your enquiry.
- Request a free Website Review — your website address, name, business name, and email address, plus an optional WhatsApp number and any context you choose to add.
- Work with us on a project — information reasonably required to scope and deliver the work.
This website can use Google Analytics to produce reports about how visitors find and use the site, but only if you accept analytics — see “Cookies and your analytics choice” below. No Google Analytics tag is loaded, and no analytics data is sent to Google, before you accept analytics.
The Website Review page also loads a form from Tally, our form provider — see “The Website Review form” below. Our hosting provider may retain standard technical logs for security, reliability, and fraud prevention.
Cookies and your analytics choice
Analytics on this website is optional and switched off until you choose otherwise. The first time you visit, a small banner asks whether you are willing to allow analytics. No Google Analytics tag is loaded, and no analytics data is sent to Google, before you accept analytics, and no analytics cookie is created before then either. The website’s core functionality remains available whether or not you accept analytics, including the Website Review form and our WhatsApp links.
If you accept analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 and it reports which pages are viewed and which buttons requesting a Website Review are clicked. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, including the _ga cookie, to distinguish visitors and sessions. Google may receive technical information such as browser and device details, IP address, and approximate location. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, phone numbers, form responses, or other contact details to Google Analytics.
We never enable Google's advertising features on this website. Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation are switched off permanently and are not affected by your choice.
Your choice is stored in your own browser, not on our servers, under the key wedevelop_analytics_consent_v1. It records only your choice, the version of this notice it was given against, and the date and time. Clearing your browser storage removes it, and the banner will ask again.
You can change your mind at any time. Choosing “Essential only” after previously accepting stops any further analytics for the rest of that visit, removes the Google cookies we are able to remove from your browser, and prevents analytics loading on future visits.
How we use your information
- To review and respond to your enquiry.
- To prepare recommendations, proposals, and quotations.
- To deliver and support agreed project work.
- To keep reasonable business and accounting records.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not send marketing you have not asked for.
The Website Review form
The form on our Website Review page is provided and hosted by Tally BV, a form provider registered in Belgium. When you open that page, the form is loaded from Tally, which means Tally may receive technical information such as your IP address and may set cookies necessary to operate the form. No other page on this website loads it.
When you submit the form, the details you enter are processed and stored by Tally on servers in the European Union, and are sent on to us. This is a transfer of your personal information outside South Africa. We rely on Tally's contractual data-protection commitments, and on the European Union's data-protection regime, which provides a level of protection comparable to POPIA. If you would prefer not to use the form, you can request a review by email or WhatsApp instead — both options are offered on the same page.
We use the information you submit only to carry out the review and respond to you. A Website Review covers only the publicly accessible pages of the website you give us. We will never ask for passwords, hosting logins, analytics access, or customer data in order to complete a review.
WhatsApp and email
If you contact us on WhatsApp, your messages are also processed by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own terms and privacy policy. Email is processed by our email service provider. Please avoid sending information that is sensitive or confidential until a project agreement is in place.
Sharing
We only share personal information with service providers who help us operate — currently our hosting provider, our email provider, Tally BV for the Website Review form, and, where you have accepted analytics, Google Analytics for website usage measurement — or with specialists supporting a project where you are aware of their involvement. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Retention
We keep enquiry and project information for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purposes above, or as required for legal and accounting record-keeping, and then delete it.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. We aim to handle personal information in line with applicable South African data-protection law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with the date above.
